  • Call for Papers 2021

    2021-03-02

Connections: A Journal of Language, Media, and Culture invites high-quality research submissions for their 2021 publication. Connections is committed to elevating and supporting graduate-level and early-career research from interdisciplinary subject areas. Our second issue will center on the theme of building bridges: maintaining connections found at the heart of cultural, multimedia, textual, or language-based interactions in times of crisis. Building bridges  in times of crisis may look like community-building, resilience, protest, growth, or care work. We hope this theme will allow for nuanced interpretation.

The journal welcomes original research manuscripts and creative works in a variety of languages from graduate students and early-career scholars throughout the world, including scholars working with non-normative or counter-hegemonic forms of research (i.e. research creation).

Connections’ scope includes, but is not limited to, the following domains:

    • Applied and Mixed Methods Linguistics
    • Translation (both Literary and Other)
    • Transnational and Comparative Literature
    • Media and Culture
    • Digital Humanities
    • Art and Creation

The journal is seeking submissions that showcase innovative research that falls within our scope; however, we are open to accepting submissions that may reside outside of this CFP description. Please note that Connections is inclusive to non-English submissions and our editorial team will employ every effort to locate appropriate reviewers. However, abstract and keywords must be provided in English for search purposes. All manuscripts should comply with the submission guidelines and be submitted electronically through the Connections: A Journal of Language, Media and Culture submission website, connectionsjournal.ca. Please submit before May 15, 2021. If you have any questions, please direct them to cnctjrnl@ualberta.ca.
